Why Organizing Your Mountain Bike & Snow Gear Is Helpful in the first place

It’s that time of year when many of us start transitioning our gear from one season to the next. For some, that means pulling out our snow gear and putting bikes and camp kits to bed.

For the lucky few, it might mean having both ready (mountain and snow setups) depending on what the weather serves up. In our experience, adventures don’t happen (or just aren’t as good) when gear stays buried in a bin, gloves get left at the trailhead, or goggles and sunnies end up crushed under heavier stuff.

That’s why having a system to manage your gear matters. A good one makes sure:

  • You can always see and find your gear - no digging required.

  • Everything has its place, so the small stuff never gets lost.

  • Your gear stays protected and stored properly, extending its life.

  • Your setup flexes to fit your gear and your adventures.

To show you what's possible, Greg walks through how he sets up his Gear Tote 55L for both mountain bike season and snow season complete with different Wet+Dirty Bag setups, System Pockets, Gear Cubes and everything he brings along for a dialed adventure.

Hopefully, this inspires you to create your own dream setup for a full season of better-organized adventures.

In this video, Greg walks through his favorite gear management set up for both sports. The 55L Gear Tote is the perfect size for bigger bulkier items like helmets, ski and snow board boots, climbing skins and mountain bike pads.

For Mountain Biking:

System pockets and Wet+Dirty bags can be configured exactly to your needs, keeping all your gear exactly where you want it.

  • Medium Wet + Dirty Bag connected to two corner attachment tabs in “shoe bag” mode
  • Large Double Flap Pocket for tools, eyewear and food
  • Large Double Mesh Pocket for gloves, hip pack and other things that get sweaty and need to air out
  • Interior pocket for extra gloves and charger for derailleur
  • Small Gear Cube for the everyday "should get me out of most situations" toolkit
  • A second small Gear Cube for chain lubes, rag, and a small bottle of tubeless sealant.

For Snow Sports:

Note the use of different size system pockets for snow sports and a different configuration of the Wet+Dirty bag.

  • Medium Wet + Dirty Bag connected to four attachment tabs in “ski boot” mode
  • Medium Flap Pocket* for ski wax, skin wax and hand warmers, tools and sunglasses
  • Medium Mesh Pocket* for gloves, gaiters and other bulky things that need to dry out
  • Interior pocket for extra buffs
  • Medium Gear Cube for spare gloves and tools that don't need to be accessed too often

Note that the medium mesh pocket is a single 10" wide pocket, where the large mesh pocket is two 7" wide pockets. We like the larger volume of the medium pocket for bulky ski gloves.

We designed the Gear Tote 55L (and the Gear Box - and Adventure Duffel) to be the ultimate canvas for creating the perfectly organized space for your gear and your adventures.
